A violinist since the age of nine, Chris Johnson is a graduate of the University of Houston's Moores School of Music where he studied with Professor Andrzej Grabiec. Chris currently divides his time between performing and studying music and his work as the host of Classical 91.7's Afternoon Drive and as the Technical Director of arts magazine The Front Row where he manages the daily broadcast and enjoys the opportunity to interview interesting musicians, artists, and writers from Houston and around the world. He has been featured in recordings performing music by Beethoven and Krommer with the KUHF Ensemble for the CD, Reflections, in addition to music by KUHF's Brad Sayles on the soundtracks for the Independent Feature Film Echoes of Innocence and for Dr. John Leinhard's Ghosts in the Books. Johnson was a 2008 fellow at the prestigious NEA Institute for Arts Journalism and Classical Music at Columbia University and, has performed as guest in the violin section of the London Symphony Orchestra and in chamber music concerts with its principal players.

Chris is a native of North Carolina and has also lived in Jacksonville, FL where, at 16, he first encountered a radio studio as a student performer for WJCT. In those rare moments when he is not pursuing musical endeavors he enjoys spending time with friends, running and exercising and listens to anything BUT classical music.
